Acrylics with Bountiful Color

Instructor Robin BarnesSunset-RB

It’s as easy as ABC. Come experience Acrylics and paint a Beautiful Arizona sunrise that has lots of Color. Reinforce what you already know or learn new techniques – but most importantly have fun and play. This class is designed for students with basic understanding of acrylic painting (application of paint, mixing colors, handling of the brush, etc.) But don’t worry, beginners will achieve some level of success.

Registration: Registration opens Thursday, October 22, 2020. This class begins November 12 and ends December 17. There be no class on November 26th. Class is limited to 9 students due to COVID restrictions. Click registration button below.

Fee: $100.00 for 1 class each week for 5 weeks.

Painting Media: Canvas, canvas board, or another pre-primed surface to paint on. The size is up to you but should be wider than it is tall. Beginners or new artists should choose a smaller canvas – but may need smaller brushes.

Paints: Students can use any brand or color if they approximate the color, tone, and thickness of those listed below. The instructor uses the following colors for all his classes: (see photo – except it’s missing the purple)RH-Acrylic Tubes

Titanium White   Burnt Umber.  Burnt Sienna.  Dioxazazine Purple.  Blue (cool( Ultramarine Blue.  Blue (warm) Cerulean Blue.  Red (cool) Quinacridone Crimson (or Alizarin Crimson/Magenta).  Red (warm) Cadmium Red Light.  Yellow (cool) Cadmium Yellow Light.  Yellow (neutral/wam) Yellow OchreRH-Acrylic brushes

Brushes: (See photo): Soft Flat 1/2″ (#6, #8, or #10), Filbert #6, Bright 1/2″ (#6, #8, or #10), Round (#4 or #6). Brush size is determined by canvas size. The large the canvas, the larger the brush.

Other Supplies:  Cloth to cover studio table required (I prefer oil cloth or plastic table cloth so it can be wiped off). Container to hold water to rinse brushes, spray bottle to apply water to canvas, blow dryer, paper towels, 3/4″ or 1″ Blue Painters Tape (to mask off areas of the painting if needed), pallet, plates, or other means to hold and mix their, apron, old clothes to wear that you don’t mind if paint accidentally gets on them, aluminum foil to use on easel to catch paint.
