Class Description:
It’s time to take the fear out of oil painting, both abstract and representational. Oils have a richness, longevity, forgiveness and luminosity not found in other media. Sylvia Shanahan takes you step by step through the process of creating in oils. You’ll learn several ways to start a painting; what additives and to use and when; what substrates work best for your style; basic color theory and blending; and much more. Tips and tricks will be demonstrated each class including design principles, the power of color and other insights. Students will work from their own reference materials or ones provided by the instructor.
