Class Description:
If you have admired people who do pop art such as Peter Max, Andy Warhol, Peter Blake and others, this is the class for you. We will look at other Pop Artists and their work to get inspiration and then create our own. We will take a subject, such as a dog or cat, or any inanimate object and then create our own version of “POP Art” using mixed media methods. These methods will include making our own papers on a gelli plate, using found papers such as maps or art papers, mark making tools, acrylic painting techniques, fabric, found objects that work with the art subject, and many other items. The Substrates we use will be canvas, canvas boards or cradle boards. The size is up to the artist. I will bring inspiration pieces for you to look at (you can bring your own too) and we will talk about several pop artists and their methods for creating successful art. Bring your ideas, your creativity and imagination to create your own POP art painting. The only rule for this class is to “have a really good time” and share your ideas with the class.
