Class Description:
Join me again for a fun and informative oil painting class, perfect for all levels—including absolute beginners! We will start from the beginning, discussing and comparing materials, and explaining in detail the most common techniques used in oil painting. We will focus on solid painting techniques while learning how to work safely and completely solvent-free! I will show you ways to make your painting more engaging, adding drama to your focal point, improve your composition, values, and color mixing, -and how to avoid mudding those pesky colors! Most importantly, you’ll learn how to truly see your subject like an artist.
The class includes step-by-step demonstrations of basic oil painting methods, which we’ll apply as we create a painting together. The subjects may include landscapes, still life, flowers, animals, people, etc… The format is flexible: you can choose to paint along with me, with a subject I provide, or bring your own reference photos and work more independently. I’ll circulate throughout the class, offering plenty of one-on-one guidance and support to everyone.
