Member Cost: $25 per class day, payable to the instructor on the first day of class.

Using colored pencils and other traditional illustration techniques, Sylvia Shanahan will guide you through immortalizing your pet (or a favorite fur baby) on paper. All styles accepted and encouraged from realistic to stylized to humorous. You’ll end the class with at least one, possibly two portraits ready for framing.

 

Supplies list for students:

• A good set of colored pencils (I like Prismacolor Premium Pencils. A set of 12 is about $16; Set of 24 is about $30)

• #2 graphite pencil

•Photo reference of Pets (Instructor will provide many of her own photos to use as reference or bring your own.)

• Optional: Small set of watercolors and brushes and/or pastels. (Instructor will have these available to use also.)

• Optional: Exacto Knife. (Instructor will have one to use if needed.)

• Optional: Battery powered eraser. (Instructor will have one to use and try.)

• Heavy duty pencil sharpener (Instructor will have an electric pencil sharpener on hand to use also)

Supply Fee: $5 (instructor will provide smooth Bristol paper, canvas paper, tracing paper, kneaded eraser, turpenoid, colorless blender and white colored pencil. Students can pick what substrate they want to try or use for their artwork.) Reference photos will also be available to use.
