Sonsoles grew up in a family of artists in Madrid, Spain, inspired early on by her father, a renowned sculptor. Drawing and painting since childhood, she developed a lifelong passion for portraiture—both people and animals—and she is especially drawn to light and dramatic contrast in her work.

She has taught art for over 16 years and currently offers private classes and workshops at the Cactus Wren Art Gallery, the Tubac School of Fine Art, and the Community Performance and Arts Center in Arizona.  Her work has been exhibited at several venues, including the Phippen Art Museum, Tubac Center of the Arts, The Cactus Wren Art Gallery, and other galleries across Arizona.

Sonsoles studied at the University of Maryland, Montpelier Arts Center, and Scottsdale Artists School, training with notable artists such as Chris Paper, Ray Roberts, Robert Goldman, Cody Delong, James Coulter, Amery Bohling, David Harlan, and others.
