Cost: $80.00 payable at first class to instructor.
This class is open to all Quail Creek residents. If you have not yet joined the Fine Arts Painting Club a $25.00 annual FAPC fee is required to enroll in this class. A family membership is $35.00. If you join the club between October 1 and December 31, your dues are valid from date paid through the following year. You may join and sign the waiver at your first class. Please note that payment to join the FAPC and class cost are separate and cannot be paid with 1 check.

Experience: All levels are welcome
This class is for students new to watercolor or those who have taken watercolor want to continue to develop and enhance their skill level.
Each class will feature a different lesson. We will learn to create the elements in landscapes, floral, light, shadow and much more. The lesson will include a drawing for you to trace and step by step demonstration so you can build confidence in your painting ability. Or you can use your own drawing and photo to develop a painting. HAVE FUN in this class and enjoy learning in a relaxed atmosphere with plenty of personal attention.
If you are not taking a class you are probably not painting regularly or continuing to learn. Come join our class.
Supply list:
You can get art supplies at AZ Art Supply, located on Oracle Rd. in Tucson. They give members of the QCFPC a 20% discount on non-sale items and are very helpful and knowledgeable about art supplies. 520-388-5555
Or you can order most of the items from Cheap Joe’s Art Stuff, Jerry’s Artorama, Dick Blick or Amazon Prime They all have websites and some free shipping.
A plastic cover for the table.
You will need 2 water containers. Use a clean food container, (cottage cheese etc)
A medium sized sprayer bottle for wetting paint and a small Holbein watercolor bottle,
Pencil and kneaded rubber eraser, or an eraser that doesn’t smear the graphite.
Graphite paper for tracing drawings.
Roll of Viva paper towels (they are more absorbent)
Old credit card or plastic card you don’t use anymore. If you don’t have this, don’t worry about it.
Single edge razor blade
A bath sponge with lots of cells that you can tear in to small pieces.
Mr Clean Magic Sponge
Masking Fluid- buy the smallest bottle. It doesn’t keep well after opening.
Inexpensive brush to apply masking fluid and small bar of soap.
Masking tape, ½ inch or whatever you have handy.
Notebook.
Watercolor paint list:
Please buy professional grade paint. Student grade won’t give you satisfactory results.

Yellow- Quinacridone Gold or Yellow Ocher (Optional)
Or buy a professional grade watercolor set with a selection of paints.
Paper: Arches or other good quality watercolor block.( I use Kilimanjaro from
Cheap Joe’s)
(9x 12 or 10 x 14) –140# weight/ cold press…BLOCK
Or sheets of 140# Cold Press Paper that you can cut to the size you need..
You will a support board to tape paper down.
I prefer a blocks because the paper doesn’t need to be stretched and taped down.
You will need a watercolor pad for practicing techniques, but
you should use good quality paper for painting pictures.
Watercolor Brushes:
½” flat
1” flat
# 8 round
#0 Liner or Rigger brush
Palette: I prefer the John Pike palette because it is very sturdy and won’t crack.
Any good palette will work as long as it has a large center or divided center mixing area.
If you don’t have all of this stuff don’t stress out. You can borrow some things and keep adding to your collection as you continue painting.
