Come and Try It Scratchboard

“The club provides residents with a unique opportunity to try a new art medium without making a large investment. If you have never done scratchboard before this is the workshop for you! If you have   but want a refresher, this is the class for you! You will receive professional instruction and all the necessary supplies for this workshop. The workshops are intended for absolute beginners. You will receive hands-on-time with the materials and techniques of the medium. It is a great way to remove the intimidation of getting started in painting.”

Class description:

The Scratchboard Come and Try It class is a beginner’s class to teach how to produce a finished scratchboard drawing by using a scratch knife on a hardboard covered with porcelain clay and black India ink.  This will be done in a step-by-step manner starting with introduction of scratchboard and tools.  Students will learn how to transfer the provided photo onto the board and methods of using scratch tools to scratch away the black ink to develop their art piece.  Students may or may not have time to finish a picture in class but will have learned how to work on the picture on their own.  If scratchboard art is something they would like to work with in the future, they can sign up for the follow up Adventures in Scratchboard classes.

Registration:  Registration opens opens December 26, 2022.  Please email Ginny at vhutcheson@msn.com  and include the name and date of the class you are registering for.

This class is open to all Quail Creek residents.  You do not need to join to take a come and try it class but you must sign a waiver.  This can be found on the web site under “About Us” , then “documents and forms”.  Or you can sign the waiver when you arrive at the studio.

 Cost:    $20.00 pay when you come to class

Supply List:     All necessary supplies will be provided.  Just bring a small table  cover.
