Instructor: Terry Smith
Medium: Acrylic/Mixed Media Part 1
Date and Time: April 7, 14, 21, 28 Fridays
9:00 to 12:30 (4 weeks)
This a fun, no-pressure class. Using acrylic paint and markers on a gelli plate, we will create our own unique collage materials. Gelli printing is a form of monoprinting, a fine art form where each print is unique and can never be duplicated.
(Collage is an art term referring to basically gluing paper and other items onto a surface to create art.)
Acrylic paint is the primary media used in the class and we will explore properties of paint, including pigment load, transparency, viscosity, etc. as well as some of the acrylic mediums.
A high-quality artist journal will be used for the exercises and explorations. Use of the journal rather than an expensive canvas or cradled wood panel helps keep the focus on the process rather than the result, thereby encouraging creativity to flourish.
This is an experimental class, exploring the Art Elements in a variety of ways. We will not be copying photographs or creating realistic art. Perfectionism is highly discouraged.
This class is for students of all levels.
Registration Date: March 10th.
Cost: $80 for 4 classes. Supply fee $40 including Dyllusions art journal ($25 retail).
